Rown

Overview

Rown is one of the four Royal Islands of the continent of Eurica. It is the second smallest and the northernmost. Most know it for its legendary landscape, rich history of peace, endless resources, ancient landmarks, and unspeakably beautiful nature. The inhabitants are mainly land dwellers such as naturman, volcanions, and floraliens. There are a few synapsian villages in caves and a fair amount of zephyrman and fairies. The nature and earth elements are the most common among warriors.

Landscape

Rown's landscape is famous throughout the entire world. Mostly for its marvelous grassy hills that stretch for miles and miles. They are among the most beautiful sights in history. People from all over the world travel to Rown to experience the sights, sounds, and aura of landmarks such as the Shadowed Hedges, the Rownan Tree of Life, Dire Beauty Cliffs, and countless hills. Mount Blaroar serves as a home for the volcanions of Rown and rarely erupts. When it does, it poses no threat due to the countless lava ditches built by the inhabitants. The lava is also sticky and does not flow very far before solidifying.

Prosperity

Rown used to be incredibly prosperous due to its seemingly limitless resources. However, mass harvesting nearly led to a collapse of balance. This led the people to decrease their needs and desires to allow the resources to revitalize. Species of creatures repopulated, plants regrew, and minerals formed. Despite the return of the resources, the people of Rown remained humble and only took from nature what they needed. There are no large cities except for Edona. Machnology is modest as well. The average person often owns two radios, a small kitchen, and those above average class own a TV. Very few have c-net connection. Edona is an exception to all this as they use more resources than all others. As such, they are much more advanced and prosperous.

Safety

Rown is safe for the most part, with the big exception of the city of Edona and the Turfs. The grasslands surrounding Edona are infested with carnivorous plants that hide underground and feed on any people who step on them. Besides that, violent crimes of destruction are committed mostly by the Bestowers. Though it is rare, it has discouraged people over the years from going to Rown.

Brief History

Rown was first colonized by naturman over 1,100 years ago. The volcanions who lived there for much longer welcomed them to their home and allowed them to build around their volcano. Decades later, refugees from a war on the neighboring continent of North Starlyn fled to Rown. With the war lasting so long, the refugees decided to stay forever. Floraliens and synapsians built their own villages and the zephyrman and fairies lived alongside the naturman.

This increase in population led to a decrease in resources that threatened the country. To prevent a collapse of prosperity, the people cut down on their harvesting and only took what they needed. All the while they worked hard to preserve and multiply resources. The efforts were effective enough to prevent a collapse, but one patch of land never recovered. A beautiful field known as Edona was reduced to a dead, hopeless wasteland. In a desperate attempt to revitalize the land, a group of sorcerers sacrificed their lives to bring life back to the land. At first it seemed to work, and the people of that land used the endless resources to their hearts' content, but it was soon revealed the multiplying resources came at a horribly heavy price.

The energy that kept the land alive, a plant known as the Terrazar, could only be sustained through the consumption of the flesh of people. Unbelievably, the people of Edona were willing to sacrifice their lives to keep their luxurious, prosperous lifestyle. This eventually led them to abandon their spirits and fall into madness. Several people lose their lives to the Terrazar in order to feed its life-giving power. Since then, the people of Rown swore to avoid the city of Edona and the Turfs infested with its carnivorous plant traps.

Various Facts

Accent: The Rownan accent is the equivalent of the Irish accent of our world. It is regarded as one of the most royal and proud in the world. Not everyone of Rown has this accent and hardly any women have it. Those who do are considered to be the purest blooded Rownan.

Royal Islands: The people of Rown have a sense of pride of being different from the other Royal Islands. Rown is located to the northeast of Eurica's mainland. As such, the weather there is not warm all year round and there are freezing temperatures in winter. They also have no king or queen and are ruled by a democracy with evenly split power among warriors known as guardians.

Locations

Oldhills Town: The oldest town to be inhabited by naturman. Though it looks modest with its homes built into hills and small population, it is considered sacred to many. The red weeping willow in the town square was planted 200 years ago. The town is mostly inhabited by naturman

Highhills Town: The neighboring town of Oldhills, Highhills is more prosperous and new with richer structures and higher, healthier hills. It is also home to the central guardian temple.

Elobreeze Valley: A beautiful, lush, green grassland with a few trees, ponds, and patches of flowers. Crossing through it is a small rocky canyon that was once part of a small river. A large fallen tree serves as a bridge connecting the two sides of the gorge. No plans to construct a true bridge have been discussed yet.

Trueblue Woods: A forest famous for its mysterious blue tinted trees, bushes, and grass. It is believed the mysterious shades of blue are caused by magic in the soil's moisture, but this is not confirmed.

Obsinderis: The land of the Rownan volcanions. Surrounding the volcano, the people of fire build their homes out of stone, volcanic mud, and glass. Wind patterns enchanted by sorcerers clear the skies of any ashy clouds that emerge from the volcano. Due to its constant flow of lava, special canals and ditches were built to keep the molten rock away from inhabited areas.

Mount Blaroar: Mount, Blaroar is a slightly active composite volcano that is located at the south of Rown. It erupts around once every two decades but poses no threat due to special precautions. It's sticky lava does not flow very far and solidifies fast, making it quite tall.

Floret Isle: The most isolated of the floralien villages. The inhabitants are strict with their limited trips away from their island in a lake. As a result, it has become overpopulated. Due to their fears of other races, the floraliens refuse to expand their homes off their isle. Overall, the crowded conditions of their home are ignored and disregarded, much to some people's trouble.

Blackfall: Once a poor yet peaceful town, Blackfall was destroyed by an unknown force, killing the inhabitants including two legendary sorcerers. The only survivor was their son, who was imprisoned in Edona at the time. Upon escaping and returning, the son, known through the land as The Lost Sorcerer, did his best to rebuild his parent's tower and is not the town's only inhabitant. The ghost town is now infested with black birds like crows and magpies.
